This course provides the knowledge to understand network services in Windows Server and Windows Server R2, IP addressing, IPAM, DNS and DHCP, DirectAccess and VPN remote access technologies. Also covered are implementing security with Windows Firewall, IPSec and NAP, improving performance with NIC Teaming, Receive Side Scaling, SMB Direct and SMB MultiChannel technologies, integrating network infrastructure with Hyper-V and using SR-IOV virtual high-performance technologies such as VMQ virtual machine queuing and virtual Receive Side Scaling (vRSS), creating multi-user networks with virtualization on Hyper-V, and providing external access with a hardware-software gateway in Window Server 2012 R2.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- plan and implement networks on IPv4, configure and manage DHCP;
- implement name resolution using DNS;
- implement IPv6 networks and integrate IPv6 and IPv4 networks;
- implement and manage IP addresses using IP Address Management in Windows Server 2012;
- implement and manage remote access in Windows Server 2012 using DirectAccess, VPN, and a web proxy application;
- implement network security using Windows Firewall with advanced IPsec settings in Windows Server 2012;
- implement and manage NAP network access protection;
- implement network services for branch offices;
- implement network infrastructure for files and data;
- Implement and manage networks in Hyper-V;
- virtualize the physical network infrastructure in Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 using Hyper-V network and gateway virtualization.
